Making the Most of Your Space

The unique L-shaped design allows you to utilize corner areas that typically go unused. These wardrobes maximize storage capacity by following the contours of your room, all while preserving aesthetic appeal and maintaining open movement. In rooms where every inch counts, an L-shaped wardrobe is the ideal choice to avoid wasting valuable space.

Tailored to Your Lifestyle

L-shaped wardrobes are fully customizable to fit your exact storage requirements—from pull-out drawers to adjustable shelves. Whether you need space for clothing, shoes, or accessories, the design can be personalized to match your lifestyle perfectly.

Merging Style and Practicality

Adding an L-shaped wardrobe to your bedroom does more than solve storage challenges—it enhances the room’s overall look. Incorporate glass panels, lighting, and other creative features to elevate your interior design and create a wardrobe that truly complements your space.

How to Design Your Perfect L-Shaped or Corner Wardrobe

Ready to create your dream corner wardrobe? Follow these simple steps to design and install the ideal L-shaped wardrobe for your home.

Design Your Ideal L Shaped Corner Wardrobe

Step 1 – Plan Your Layout

Decide how the two sides of your L-shaped wardrobe will extend—whether from walls or end panels. Between these, there will be a “central corner.” Your wardrobe will fit into one of four configurations:

  • Wall – Central Corner – End Panel

  • Wall – Central Corner – Wall

  • End Panel – Central Corner – End Panel

  • End Panel – Central Corner – Wall

Step 2 – Take Accurate Measurements

Measure the height from floor to ceiling on both sides in millimeters. Refer to our Measurement Guide for detailed tips. Next, measure the distance from the back wall on one side to where you want the wardrobe to end on the other side (whether wall or end panel). This helps determine the opening height and total width of each side. To ensure enough clearance for sliding doors, the total width should be at least 1700mm.

Step 3 – Calculate Your Order Opening Width

Since your wardrobe wraps around the corner, subtract the wardrobe depth on the first side from the total width on the second side. Then subtract the wardrobe depth on the second side from the total width on the first side. We recommend a wardrobe depth of 600mm, but we can accommodate nearly any depth. Our team is happy to assist with these calculations.

For example, if the total widths are 3000mm and 2000mm (Wall – Central Corner – Wall configuration) and the wardrobe depth is 600mm, your order opening widths would be 2400mm (3000 – 600) and 1400mm (2000 – 600).

Step 4 – Design Your Wardrobe

Using your calculated widths and heights, design two wardrobes. Set the sides as Wall or End Panel based on your initial layout choice, ensuring all sides are properly cased and the central corner side is designated as Wall. If you want interiors for your corner wardrobe, you can add them to one or both sides.

If you feel unsure about the design, consider consulting an interior designer who can help craft a wardrobe that matches your taste and space perfectly.

Planning Your L-Shaped Wardrobe

Creating a wardrobe that fits all your storage needs takes thoughtful planning. Here’s how to evaluate your requirements and select the right materials and finishes.

Evaluate Your Storage Needs

Before building, list all the items you want to store—clothing, shoes, accessories—and plan the internal layout accordingly. This might involve balancing hanging space, shelves, and drawers to best suit your belongings.

Choosing Materials and Finishes

The materials and finishes you pick affect your wardrobe’s durability, upkeep, and the overall room aesthetic. Options range from timeless wood to modern laminates, each with unique benefits in look, cost, and maintenance.

Popular Material Options for L-Shaped Wardrobes

Material Choices for L Shaped Wardrobe

Thinking about adding some character to your wardrobe? Here are common materials and styles people choose for their L-shaped wardrobes. Wood remains a popular choice—mahogany, teak, pine, and cedar are all excellent options. Mirrored glass panels offer a chic, contemporary vibe. Let’s explore these further.

  • Wood: Durable and classic, wood lends warmth and style to wardrobes. It’s easy to care for, though aged hardwoods tend to be pricier.

  • Metal: Materials like iron, steel, brass, and copper bring strength and longevity. They can have shiny or matte finishes but may need protective coatings to prevent rust. Metal wardrobes can be more affordable while lasting longer than some wood options.

  • Decorative Laminate: If you want to brighten up your wardrobe with color or texture, decorative laminates are a great choice. They can mimic wood, stone, or other materials, allowing for personal flair.

Trending Exterior Finish Ideas

A wardrobe’s look is defined by its exterior finish—here are some top choices to consider, from traditional to modern:

  • Veneer: Thin layers of wood create realistic wood patterns. It’s affordable but less durable than solid wood. Ideal for budget-conscious buyers who want style.

  • Laminate: Lightweight and versatile, laminate resists stains, scratches, and fading. Available in many colors and patterns, it’s easy to clean and maintain, making it perfect for busy households.

  • Solid Wood: Real hardwood offers a timeless, rich appearance. Available in various finishes—from glossy to matte—it adds character and durability to your wardrobe.

Must-Have Features and Wardrobe Accessories

Make your L-shaped wardrobe both beautiful and practical with these popular extras:

  • Shelves and Drawers: Add adjustable shelves, sleek drawers for jewelry or accessories, and pull-out racks for skirts and pants. Some units offer removable shelves for flexibility.

  • Hangers and Organizers: Include tie racks, scarf holders, and belt hangers to keep clothes neat and orderly.

  • Mirrors: Attach mirrors inside or outside the doors to help you get ready and brighten the room. Mirrored doors also add a modern touch and visually expand the space.

  • Lighting: Interior lighting makes it easier to find your clothes, especially in darker rooms. Options include overhead lights, motion-activated lamps, or LED strips controlled by switches.

While these add-ons improve functionality, don’t forget the basics: your wardrobe should be sized and customized to fit your belongings perfectly. A well-planned wardrobe is key to an organized and stylish home.
